Why ServSafe?
ServSafe is developed by the National Restaurant Association (NRA) to educate food service professionals about food safety.
Americans dine out often, typically hundreds of times per year. A food safety education program is needed to protect the public from foodborne illness.
The National Restaurant Association has tens of thousands of members at about half a million food service establishments. ServSafe draws on the experience of these food service professionals and the United States Food Code for their curriculum. They provide a nationally accredited certificate in food safety which is often required by law.
